This 10 day safari is your chance to view exquisite feline carnivores, the wild animals of Etosha in their personal Eden, unique mountainous vistas and the elaborate carvings of Africa's eldest human inhabitants. From the coastal town of Swakopmund we travel down to the Namib-Naukluft National Park and the giant sand dunes at Sossusvlei. The Naukluft is the largest conservation area in Africa and fourth largest in the world!You will also visit Damaraland, the Twyfelfontein rock engravings, the Skeleton Coast and much more.

Day 1 - Okonjima Nature Reserve
Okonjima Nature Reserve

You will be picked up in Windhoek City and begin your first day with a trip to Okonjima Nature Reserve. Upon arrival you will visit the AfriCat Foundation, a conservation operation that focuses on the African big cats, particularly the cheetah. In the afternoon, you will embark on a tour that will provide you with more insights about this conservation program. The highlight will be the chance to see some of the animals. Later in the evening, you will drive to the Okonjima's Omboroko Campsite where you will check-in, have dinner and settle in for your overnight stay.


Day 2 & 3-Etosha National Park

After an early breakfast, you will check-out and head to Etosha National Park with a stopover at Lake Otjikoto, Namibia’s largest permanent natural lake. Here you will learn about the history of this unusual landmark and then continue your drive to Etosha. You will arrive at Namutoni campsite where you will help set camp and familiarize yourself with the surroundings. After lunch you will enjoy your first game drive during the cool of the afternoon. The game viewing here is usually excellent with close encounters with springbok, zebra, impala, giraffe, gemsbok and a variety of birds. If you are lucky you may also have some close encounters with elephant and lion. Before sunset, you will travel back to camp. You will enjoy a glass of wine. You will experience a fabulous sunset from the tower of the old German fort before enjoy dinner around the campfire and settling in for your overnight stay.

On day 3, After breakfast, you will check-out and spend the day on a game drive visiting a number of waterholes and making a stop at the Etosha Pan, the “place of dry water”. The Pan is an extensive flat depression; a place of shimmering mirages and large herds of plains game; a unique safari experience in Africa. You may stop at Halali Middle Camp to have lunch before continuing to the southern side of the park where you will check-in at Okaukuejo Camp. After dinner a visit to the floodlit waterhole is strongly recommended with a good chance to see rhino and lion coming to the waterhole to drink. Later in the evening, you will settle in for your overnight stay.

Day 4 & 5 - Palmwag (Damaraland) 

Hoada Campsite & Brandberg White Lady Lodge

After an early breakfast, you will check-out and begin your day with a game drive as you leave the park and drive into the Desert Mountains of the Kaokoveld. The region is one of the last true wildernesses of Southern Africa and home of the Himba people. During the afternoon you will be taken to the Otjikandero Himba village where you will meet with the locals. You will have a special guide for the time you are there who will translate for you and help you learn about the Himba’s culture, marriage customs, and traditional food. You will also visit the “holy fire”. In the evening, you will check-in at the Hoada Campsite for dinner and your overnight stay.

On day 5, After an early breakfast, you will check-out and head into one of the most beautiful desert regions in Namibia, Damaraland. You will pay a visit to the Organ pipes and rock engravings on the way to Brandberg. The Brandberg Mountain is an ancient bushman spiritual site. You will check-in at the Brandberg White Lady Lodge, located in the shadow of this giant granite monolith. Here you will have dinner and settle in for your overnight stay.


Day 6 & 7 - Etosha NP to Swakopmund

After breakfast, you will check-out and head out for your first stop in the small town of Uis, an old mining town best known for semi-precious stones. Here rough amethyst, tourmaline and other stones can be found at bargain prices. After this stop, you will drive to Cape Cross, famous for the close views of thousands of fur seals. Tonight you can sample one of the excellent restaurants in Swakopmund where the seafood is superb. Your guide may organize a group meal at a local restaurant for this evening. Dinner is not included in the price of the safari. Later in the evening you will check-in at Amanpuri Travellers Lodge for your overnight stay.

On day 7, After breakfast, you will drive to Walvis Bay for a stopover at the lagoon area to see flamingo and lots of other birds. You may even spot dolphin in the lagoon. You will pay a visit to the salt works before returning to Swakopmund. The remainder of the day is on you. You may explore Swakopmund, a very pleasant seaside town with lots of shops, a good stretch of beach and an open air curio market. There is also a very good museum and the Namibian National Marine Aquarium located in Swakopmund. Alternatively, there are various other activities that can be arranged. Your guide will discuss all possible optional activities with you and offer to make pre-booking in advance. Later in the evening you will return to the lodge to settle in for the night.


Day 8 & 9 - Namib Desert

Sesriem Campsite
Meals- Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner 

Leave Swakopmund towards the harbor town of Walvis Bay, the lagoon here attracts a lot of marine & birdlife and is well worth a visit to view the pink flamingoes. You may decide to take a catamaran cruise on the lagoon (not included in package price). Today you have a drive of around 300km's which will take you around 4-5 hours. Your route will take you across the gravel plains of the Namib Desert and through the Kuiseb & Gaub passes.

 

Aim to arrive at your accommodation in the late afternoon, Desert Camp is a self-catering establishment and no meals are included in this package but if you do not want to have the hassle of carrying and preparing your own food meals can be enjoyed at the nearby Sossusvlei Lodge.

On day 9, You will rise very early to catch the soft light of the sunrise over the desert. You will pass through the gate into the Namib Naukluft Park and continue towards Sossusvlei along distant sand dunes on both sides of the road. If resting is not your thing, worry less as we stop at the famous Dune 45. Those who feel fit may climb the dune and get a breathtaking view of the surrounding desert and dunes as the sun rises. After a memorable morning drive, you will return to camp for breakfast and then take a desert walk in the cool of the morning, with a chance to see gemsbok, springbok, black-backed jackal and ostrich. After lunch, as the day cools off you will enjoy a short excursion to Sesriem Canyon before returning to camp for dinner and your overnight stay

Windhoek (City) (Day 10)
Meals - Breakfast

After breakfast, you will check-out and begin your journey back on scenic roads through the Khomas Hochland Mountain Range. You will arrive back in Windhoek city in the afternoon and be dropped-off at your requested accommodations. This is where your safari will end
