Accommodation: Olive Grove Guesthouse (Mid-range guest house located in or near Windhoek)

Meals & Drinks: Dinner only. Drinking water included (Other drinks not included)

This friendly guesthouse, with superb facilities, is located in the leafy suburb of Klein Windhoek, just 45 mins drive from the international airport. A former home, it has been renovated into a contemporary, eleven-roomed guesthouse, complete with a large shaded terrace, an open-plan kitchen, a small plunge pool and a wellness treatment room. It shares the same views, of the olive grove and city skyline, as its neighbour, the Olive Exclusive. The food and wine list are fantastic, especially for a property of this size, and pricing category. The friendly staff will happily organise day tours or local dining reservations for you in and around Windhoek. The main in-house activity offered is relaxation, if you need a helping hand, the wellness treatment room is the spot for a rejuvenating massage.

DAY 2 & 3

Namib Desert

Accommodation: Kulala Desert Lodge (Luxury lodge located just outside Namib-Naukluft National Park)

Meals & Drinks: All meals included. Drinking water included (Other drinks not included)

Kulala Desert Lodge, lies on the 210-square-kilometre private Kulala Wilderness Reserve in southern Namibia. The lodge's prime attraction is its proximity, and private entrance, to the Namib-Naukluft National Park, but its vast views are headline-worthy too – from the Namib-Naukluft dune sea in the west to the mountains in the east. Tear yourself away from the scenery to inspect Kulala's eco-credentials, a subject the owners take very seriously, from the reusable water bottles you're given to the tips on saving water. Take an early-morning excursion (the best time to see the light on the dunes) to Sossusvlei, accessed via a private gate that is shared only with sister Little Kulala Lodge. Climb 325-metre Big Daddy, Sossusvlei's tallest dune. It's a longer trip to dramatic Sesriem Canyon, but worth it for the memories and photographs. Take a shorter drive in Kulala Private Reserve, go on a guided walking trail, or get a bird's-eye view from a hot-air balloon (extra charge).

DAY 4 & 5

Accommodation: Ongava Tented Camp (Luxury tented camp located inside Ongava Game Reserve)

Meals & Drinks: Breakfast (Lunch & Dinner not included. Drinking water included (Other drinks not included)

The new kid on the block in Swakopmund is piquing the interest of local and international travellers. Situated right on the sea shore, its location is hard to beat. And the decor … it’s like a trendy metropolitan hotel combined with a light and breezy seaside ambiance. Did we mention there’s a brewery on site? You’ll find locally crafted beer, sunsets, a spa and seafood at this sparkling Swakopmund gem. You may just want to spend the day on the beach on your doorstep, enjoying the sunshine and fresh sea air. But if you want to do some exploring, take a relaxed stroll along the promenade and jetty, visit the local museum that has excellent displays of local flora and fauna or venture through town, which has some fine colonial buildings. That said, there are eco and adrenaline activities aplenty. You can book these through the hotel such as desert tours, ballooning, skydiving, horse riding and more. For marine adventures there are bird watching tours, dolphin and seal tours.

Accommodation: Olive Grove Guesthouse (Mid-range guest house located in or near Windhoek)

Meals & Drinks: Breakfast (Lunch & dinner not included). Drinking water included (Other drinks not included)

Return to Olive Grove in Windhoek for a one night stopover before the next leg of your journey. Make full use of your previously acquired knowledge and take the opportunity to try something new, without the need to familiarise yourself with the local area.

DAY 7 - 9

Okavango Delta (Botswana)

Accommodation: Kanana (Luxury tented camp located inside Okavango Delta)

Meals & Drinks: All meals are included. Drinking water included (Other drinks not included)

Kanana is a luxurious tented camp in the heart of the Okavango Delta floodplains. Its position over a deep year-round channel reveals stunning views of this watery paradise and all its inhabitants. The remote location means Kanana can only be accessed by light aircraft, followed by a brief transfer. Kanana camp offers a great mix of activities. Water activities are usually the highlight, with easy afternoon excursions in a glass-bottomed mokoro (dugout canoe). You might prefer to venture out by power boat to cover a greater distance and try your hand at catching a variety of fresh water fish, including the infamous tiger fish. On land, enjoy day and night game drives or bush walks - a chance to explore the numerous islands that make up this stretch of the Delta.

DAY 10 & 11

Victoria Falls

Accommodation: Victoria Falls Safari Lodge (Luxury lodge located in or near Victoria Falls)

Meals & Drinks: Breakfast (Lunch & dinner not included). Drinking water included (Other drinks not included)

Set on a plateau bordering the Zambezi National Park, this deservedly popular lodge has a lot going for it. The views of the huge park, the surrounding bush and the wide, wide sky give you a real sense of being out in the African wilderness, yet you're just 4 minutes by road from the town of Victoria Falls. There's no shortage of activities. For adrenalin junkies: white-water rafting, a 111-metre bungee jump, river surfing, kayaking, stomach-lurching gorge swings and more. Not appealing? Keep your blood pressure stable on river cruises, safari drives, helicopter rides above the 1,688-metre Victoria Falls, fishing or visiting the plentiful craft markets. (There's a complimentary bus shuttle to town.) Back at the lodge, watch the behaviour of the animals at the waterhole, especially the elephant herds. The older members drink first, with the youngsters jostling amusingly between their legs.
